4-H has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. It is a great organization to be involved in. 4-H is all about learning, it teaches us about leadership and citizenship. The activities are vast and amazing. Youth that participate in 4-H do better in school, are motivated to help others, feel safe to try new things and develop lasting friendships. There are many different 4-H groups but the one I am apart of is called Shamrock.
The most recent fundraiser that Shamrock held was called the Chili Cook Off. They have been doing it for over a decade. A few of my friends and I made chili and served it. There were also a lot of other 4-h’ers who also made and served chili. Our farm won 2nd place. We were very excited to receive a plaque. Shamrock 4-H group will donate monies raised to different causes. Our next fundraiser will be a May Breakfast on May 3 to raise monies for the SRI Fair. Please contact Brenda Titus at 401.623.0682 for tickets for this all you can eat breakfast at Dave’s Grill located at 2339 Post Road in Warwick, RI.
We will also be part of the Easter Seals Walk With Me event being held on Thursday, May 7 at Goddard Park because we want to help spread hope and raise funds to help individuals and families living with disabilities. Please contact Sherri at 3979324 for more information on how you can help make a difference.
I am so fortunate to be part of such a wonderful 4-H group. Last year when our barn burnt down, the Shamrock 4-H group donated to us along with many other 4-H groups. When they donated to us and showed us their love and support, it made me realize that 4-H is not just an organization; it’s a family. development
The official 4-H emblem is a green four leaf clover with a whiteHon each leaf. The four H’s stand for HEARTS, HANDS, HEADS, and HEALTH and has been around since 1906. It represents the four-square education. Educational Development, Fellowship Development, Physical Development, Moral Development.
