A birthday is the first day of another 365 day journey around the sun

On May 5, Rachyl turns 18 and Rachyl’s Goat Milk Soap turns 9! Rachyl is the middle daughter in our family and one of eight siblings (only three sisters though!).
Rachyl is absolutely passionate about the work she has chosen and since she was 9 years old has been able to say with certainty that this is what she wants to do when she grows up. She doesn’t deny that it is hard work, physically (hauling water buckets, cleaning stalls), mentally (problem solving, product brainstorming), and emotionally (the circle of life), but it is also rewarding. Knowing that she is making a difference for her family, community, and customers and spreading the news that Natural is the New Normal makes it all worth it.

Rachyl is a master multi-tasker. She is currently in college full time, studying business marketing, while also working on our family farm, and in our soap shop creating and mailing products. She somehow finds time to be an amazing sister, daughter, auntie, and friend too! There may only be 24 hours in a day but Rachyl makes the most of each and every one. She loves naps and sometimes you can find her taking a much needed one in between all of her to do items.

Being homeschooled allowed her to progress quickly through high school and she graduated a year early! She made the decision to give up normal teenage activities (dances, parties, etc.) to further making her dream of Rachyl’s Goat Milk Soap into a reality. Being thrown into the public eye at such a young age has taught Rachyl maturity and to be fearless. Watching her live out her passion, it’s clear this is what she was meant to do! Rachyl considers herself very blessed as not many people find their passion, especially at such a young age, and even less actually get to make it their full time job!

Rachyl is also humble and modest, and credits our family for Rachyl’s Goat Milk Soap’s growth and success. She’s quick to point out that our parents have always supported each of our dreams, that our dad and brothers have pitched in building the farm, and that our mom and sisters help with handcrafting products as well as packaging, stocking shelves, and office work. Despite Rachyl’s Goat Milk Soap’s success, Rachyl has remained the sweet and silly sister we all grew up with.
Rachyl is also quick to thank our community and customers because without their support there would be no sales!
The tragic barn fire in 2014 reminded us all how important human relationships are, and that there is so much more to life than business. The outpouring of love and support and generosity drove us to always keep Rachyl’s Goat Milk Soap small town based. We do our best to support other local and small businesses, to buy American-made supplies, and to always give back. Without our customers, who become family and friends, there would be no Rachyl’s Goat Milk Soap. We listen to everyone’s suggestions (bring back this scent, can you make it in a travel size container, etc.) and form connections with everyone! If you’ve been to our Farm Store, a farmers market, or Dave’s Marketplace and any of the local stores when shelves are being stocked, you’ve met Rachyl or one of us! Before a local customer is a “regular”, Rachyl remembers them (and their pets!).
